New test installation advice

Hello,

I have been asked to evaluate Untangle for possible rollout to a client that has around 50 users. Unfortunately test lab resource is limited and we have a very tight timescale. With this in mind, I have decided to try and evaluate using a real PC with 2 nics using VMWare Player (not my first, but currently my only choice).

As we already have firewall filtering in place, Untangle will be operating behind that in bridged mode on the VM. The questions I have are:

1. Will operating in this manner break anything else on the network?
2. If I use the VM in this manner with the host machine as the testbed, how can I ensure the host uses the Untangle VM as its route to the internet? I know that Untangle needs to be an inline device, so I'm a little unsure as to how I can specifically direct traffic to it.

Dodgy network diagram follows (the important bits)

Code:

Internet
 |
Sonicwall FW-------------------------rest of network which needs to stay isolated from Untangle for now (Windows domain)
 |                                                      |
Untangle (VM, bridged NICs x2)                          |
 |                                                      |
Host----------------------------------------------------

DHCP will be switched off on UT and I will be setting a static IP for the host also.

Thanks for any assistance.
