Possible? 2 WANS 3 Subnets same subnets

$

Hi all..

I have two T1`s and an ASA, My goal is to control traffic depending on service and distribute to the T1`s accordingly

I have 3 subnets on different VLAN`s, the two T`s are also on two of the same subnets.

So I have 7 NIC`s in this Vmware install of Untangle

1)External 192.168.100.29 VLAN 1
2)External 192.168.102.29 VLAN 2
3)External 192.168.103.29 VLAN 3

4)Internal 192.168.100.30 VLAN 1
5)Internal 192.167.102.30 VLAN 2
6)Internal 192.168.103.30 VLAN 3

I changed the gateways on the respective networks to point to the .30`s of the Internal interfaces, turned NAT on the
External interfaces, Internal 192.168.100.30 VLAN 1 works fine, I can get on the web and ping, the others, I can only ping there respective subnets..

Any pointers would be appreciatted.. One last point, all interfaces are on the correct VLAN physical nics on the Vmware host.

Thanks!

V11 and Chrome issues

Since the v11 update, I'm getting a new SSL cert error when attempting to access my boxes from the Wan interface. WAN access is enabled, and on the default port 443. When accessing via chrome (v. 38.02125.104m), I receive the following (x's replacing IP address):

x.x.x.x normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Chrome tried to connect to x.x.x.x this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. Either an attacker is trying to pretend to be x.x.x.x, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

You cannot visit x.x.x right now because the website sent scrambled credentials that Chrome cannot process. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.

Ok so im new to server 2008, ive managed to get Server 2008 + my domain all setup (took a while but with youtube/technet i got there)

now i need to use untangled as some of my workers have been caught streaming movies / facebook etc, now ive installed untangled and got it all setup and working,

what i want to know is, do i point the server default gateway / client gateway to untangled box ?

interner > 192.168.1.1
server > 192.168.1.2
untangled > 192.168.2.1

and im assuming my route will go be

internet connection > untangled box
untangled > server
client > server > untangled > internet ?

thanks for the support,

Restore a 10.2 backup on a new v11 system?

Hello,

I have an old dell r200 that i've been using for Untangle. It currently has version 10.2.1~svn20140618r37923release10.2-1squeeze.

Today, I am installing 11 on a newer dell r210 that I have.

I saved a backup file from the r200 and hoping that I can restore it on the r210 that has v11 on it..

Tried this, but the restore just spins with "inspecting file" notice.

Another option is to download version 10.2 and install this on the r210, but I can't find where to download version 10.x

Thanks,
Rob

Untangle 11.0 Install - NIC setup

I have installed Untangle 11.0 on a standalone PC. I have a duel nic card and an on board nic. I have assigned the internal nic to 192.168.0.170 (our internal IP) and the external is set to 192.168.2.1. My confusion lies on what ip to set the external. This will be the connection going from my cisco to the untangle box.

I can provide additional info as need.

Thanks.

Sudden high load

I'm running v11 now for some days without any problems so far. To keep an eye on the system and the network activity i keep a tab open with the management interface loaded. When i took a look a few hours ago i saw "high" in red letters for the load. I have never seen this before with this machine and the actual load was 40+ which is very high.

Because of my concerns of this i took a look at the terminal to see which process was causing this. After this i rebooted the machine and the high load disappeared (and hasn't reappeared since). I know that rebooting to fix a problem is considered bad practice (and normally i agree with this) but i was worried this high load would cause issues for our network and VOIP connections so i felt the need to do something.

I have taken a picture of the htop output before rebooting. I can't upload it to the forum but you can view it here: https://copy.com/Dxxl2gPIy2JNDMfX . Is there anything to say about the possible cause of this high load?

P.S. the only cause i could come up with is that report generation was active at the time. But this would seem unlikely to me because it was during working hours that this high load occurred.

Unable to Install Untangle on HP Proliant DL380P G8

Hi,

I am failing to install Untangle (both v10.2 and 11) on a new HP DL380P G8 server. When I get to the partitioning stage I get the error:

"Failed to create a file system
The ext 3 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI3 (0,0,1) (sda) failed"

The server has HP Smart Array P420i controller with 6 x300 SAS drive in RAID 5.

I have seen this post - http://forums.untangle.com/installat...n8-server.html where a user (with the same machine) was having issues booting to Untangle after installation, but in my case I just can't install the software.

Please advice what can I do to solve this issue.

Third party Server certificates

Has anyone used a free third party server certificate such as StartSSL for their Untangle box? I'm tired of getting phone calls from our users when they check their quarantine that the site is unsafe.

Thanks,
Gary

transparent installation not allowing clients on internet

$

I'm setting up untangle for the first time. I'm testing for a client installation.

The goal is to have set it up in transparent mode.

There is already a router in place (192.168.200.1)

I've setup the untangle box, a winxp, and a win7 box in vbox.

The untangle has interface 1 bridged to my network card, interface 2 is connected to an internal network called "intnet"

The windows xp and win7 have 1 interface each, and are both connected to the "intnet" internal network

Both machines end up receiving an ip from the dhcp server (192.168.200.1), they cannot get internet, and cannot ping the untangle box or the router. They cannot access the untangle or the router gui in a browser. They cannot ping 8.8.8.8 either.

The untangle box can see the internet just fine. All of it's tests pass, and I can browse to websites

I've played with the untangle box quite a bit, and I've gone back to factory settings a few times also, but I don't know what else to do to troubleshoot this.

Any help?

10 Issue with machine

Technically machine is a VM.
Host hardware/software took a dive over the weekend, just got everything transferred.
Untangle won't boot.
So I'm running 10.something should be up to date.

"Loading please wait...
[ 6.540096] uvesafb: Getting VBE info block failed (eax=0x4f00, err=1)
[ 6.540205] uvesafb: vbe_init() failed with -22
mkdir: can't create directory '/run/plymouth': No such file or directory"

Debian 6 untangle tty1 and a login prompt....

Getting ready to plug the original copy back in and see if I can start the vm, but it had something go sideways with permissions to the virtual drive earlier as far as it was concerned.

Service not running after install of 32bit Untangle 11

I had 10 running but not in production so I wiped it with a fresh 11 install.
Install seemed fine but the setup wont run and the browser opens and states 'service unavailable'.
Any ideas?

VRRP and licensing

If I setup a hot spare that uses VRRP do I need to have separate licenses on each install? That seems a bit steep.

Perhaps I could use lite on the backup one.
I could stand having the web filter quit if the main router failed but loosing wan failover and balancing might be a problem. And I would rather just support one config.

New Untangle User....

Hello,

I currently use pfsense and I am moving over to untangle. I move on average 200 - 300Mbps and usage is growing. This is all day long at our one site and I am wondering if 12 cores and 4GB Ram and 60GB HD will be enough to make it happy I also have a bout 20Mbps 24/7 IPSEC traffic as well. We stream video / Audio live and I am looking to have two untangle units one at each office. All our end points are hooked up via Cisco ASA5505's.

So any input is great. I am running this in a VMware ESXi 5.5 that have X5660's x 2 and 32GB ram in each host in a Dell R410.

Is it worth it to install VMware tools on the VM's? Any info for the VMware side to help with performance would be great thanks. I am also looking at NAT and PAT and any info on how to set that up thanks.

I am looking at using openvpn for remote access into the network when I am on the road.

pfsense is a great product but I think its time we are on a product that offers phone support. I have purchased a few untangle packages and the interface looks very easy to use.

Thanks,

Mike

How to view data of the .backup file created by the untangle backup scripts

$

hello, i created a backup from the untangle web interface and got the file Untangle-10_2-backup-untangle-.backup it appears to be some binary format a bit of googling has revealed that the backup file generated is essentially a database dump of the protsgresql used by untangle but i have no way of viewing the data in the backup as our company requires as far as i know protsresql can dump file in several formats as an archive and a .sql file ( which would display the sql queries in a (text editor when opened) required to recreate the database). but trying to restore the .backup file into a local protgresql server complains of missing magic number and unknown archive i have tried both pssql and the pgrestore wayy..

on checking the ut-restore.sh and ut-backup.sh it appears thyat the file is archived and compressed i dnt know bash and linux terminal tool very well so thats all i could gather

so can anyone provide what format or compression is done on .backup file, by itself its a binary and how i can view the information within it , also a sidenote please dnt ask me to restore the backup file on a existing installation as this is not what i require

thankyou

10 to 11 upgrade

Got a client running 10, and I want to take them to 11. Is there anything special going to 11? I know going from 9 you have to clean install, but I should be able to upgrade from 10 to 11 - correct?

I will backup to be safe, but does the install give me to option to upgrade? I have not done this, and I can't seem to find documentation on doing 10 to 11. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Current version: Build: 10.2.1~svn20140618r37923release10.2-1squeeze
Going to latest download version

Thanks in advance
